GLU RMMS Overview

Last Updated: Tuesday 1st September, 2009

This tutorial introduces the online management component of the GLU Platform, or the GLU Rich Media Management System (GLU RMMS). It focuses on giving a quick overview of its three main sections, the Welcome screen, the Manage section, and the My Account section.

The GLU RMMS Overview

The GLU Rich Media Management System ("GLU RMMS") is the core component of the GLU Platform. The GLU RMMS is a web-based management system where modules are created and managed. GLU users can work alone in a project, or can invite other users to collaborate in the same project.

This series of tutorials is aimed to demonstrate the general operation of the GLU RMMS and ways to interact with the GLU components used in your Flash projects. For more information about the GLU Platform, please check our GLU Platform Overview article.

A user must be registered in order to access the GLU RMMS. The GLU RMMS is divided into three main sections:

- Welcome Screen
- Manage Section
- My Account

Welcome Screen

The user is taken to the Welcome page after logging into the GLU RMMS.

The Welcome page displays useful information such as current account usages, important account notifications, platform news, and some quick links to useful resources. Usually pending project invitations or account issues are shown in the Account Notifications list.

For more information, please check the Welcome page tutorial.

Manage Section

This is the main section of the GLU RMMS where modules are set up and configured. Modules are organized under Projects and Folders. All modules under the same project are tracked by the same Google Analytics account if one is set up.

For more information about working with projects and modules, please check the "Working with projects" tutorial.

Users can also invite other users to join their projects and collaborate. Invitees can be assigned several roles/user groups. A user's own project will appear under the "My Projects" node while the ones that he joined will appear under the "Shared Projects" node. Depending on the role/user group he is assigned to, he can/cannot perform certain actions. These user groups are:

Project Creator - has full access to the project
Project Owner
- has full access to the project except creating new projects
Project Administrator- has similar access to Project Owners except inviting users
Producer - has limited access and can only manage the modules. A producer is not allowed to add/delete any modules and folders under a shared project.

For more information on how to invite users and assigning user groups, please check the Collaborating in projects tutorial.

Currently the GLU RMMS provides 9 free modules. They include:

Module name Description
Banner Module manages the assets used in banners
Blog Module manages blogs
Form Module manages general forms that users can submit data to
Gallery Module manages image/audio/video galleries or playlists
Links Module manages a list of urls
Menu Module manages the structure of a menu

Registration Module manages registration forms
SimplePage Module manages the content of pages that contain text and/or images

"Configure" button at the bottom right to configure and manage the specific module. For more information about the specific GLU module, please check their respective tutorials:

The Manage section has three sub sections, Projects, Components, and People. The Projects section is where the bulk of the work is done. E.g., setting up projects and components as described above.

The Components section is currently under development and is not available yet, but it will be a market place where advanced components can be purchased and used in projects.

The People section is also under development, but will allow users to quickly get an overview of people invited to their projects, and manage their access rights.

My Account

A user can view and manage his account details in this section. The section is divided into five sub sections:

Sub section Description
Summary displays account summary such as download/upload bandwidth usages, payment summary, and any account notifications
Details manages the user details
Change Password allows the password to be changed
Statements displays all invoices
Usage a detailed view of the bandwidth usages
